Updated ticket policies for 76ers, Flyers reflect lingering uncertainty of COVID-19 crisis

UPDATED: May 6, 2:30 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — When the coronavirus pandemic put the sports world on pause, the 76ers had 10 regular season home games left, and the Flyers had six. Both teams have updated their ticket policies as the NBA season remains suspended and the NHL season paused.

For full or partial 76ers season ticket and group ticket holders, the team is offering two options: roll over the account balance for the remaining games to the 2020-21 season, or request a refund.

However, the options for season and group ticket holders do not apply to those who purchased tickets to individual Sixers games through StubHub.

StubHub requires official cancellation of that specific event and date for them to issue a refund or 120% credit. Games have not been officially cancelled in this NBA season, so those ticket holders must wait.

Also, after pausing season ticket payments for the months of April and May, the 76ers will resume collecting payments in June. However, if fans are in financial hardship because of the health crisis, the 76ers organization has promised will work with customers to make accommodations.

The Sixers have said they want to take care of their fans, so they decided roll this policy out even though games have not been cancelled.

The Flyers released a statement Tuesday outlining what their updated ticket policy is. The overall theme is flexibility. Fans need only call the Flyers and tell them what they would like to do.

Everyone who bought a ticket through the Flyers — season ticket holders, group ticket holders and fans with other ticket plans — has an option of credit or refund. Those who do not opt for a refund will get a credit for the unplayed games this season, which will be applied to tickets for nexhot season.

People who bought single tickets to any of the six unplayed games will get an automatic refund, but they can call the Flyers to ask for a credit to be used for a later purchase.

Fans who got tickets from a third-party seller will need to contact that seller about the possibility of a refund.
