
“A return to what the players recognize. The locker room banter, the joking around. Yes, it was the unique environment and setup, but everybody was really anxious and excited to be back,” Curtin said.
The training is taking place in Wilmington, Delaware, and Curtin’s players were forced to practice social distancing rules as they took the field.
“They walk in. They get a temperature check at their head. They remove their gloves there, they have a mask on. They’re sent, intelligently, to different quadrants of the field,” he added.
There is no official timetable for a return to game action, and Curtin realizes the course of the pandemic will ultimately be the deciding factor.
“There still is uncertainty. I think that is the whole reality with this thing. All we can do right now is take the measures that have been issued by the league, follow the protocols that have been issued down from the Philadelphia Union and our states,” he added.
The training sessions will continue through the rest of the week.
