PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Eagles players are dealing with a different type of off-season as they continue to wait out the coronavirus crisis.

Eagles safety Rodney McLeod says players may have to find a way to work out during their vacation time if the coronavirus crisis passes early in the summer.

“It could be one of those situations where in June or July, typically when guys are away, guys are now finding ways to all get together to work out,” he said.

For now, it’s a frustrating time for McLeod and other athletes whose workout routines are thrown off.

“It’s difficult because you don’t have your gyms that you had access to and what I’m accustomed to, to get to my trainer and work out,” he said.

In the meantime, McLeod and his wife are putting their down time to good use.

“We donated $25,000 to Philabundance for the work and the access to food they’re providing for average families,” he said.

The McLeods are also raising awareness for the grab-and-go meal campaign during the crisis.

Meanwhile, McLeod is planning to reach out to his teammates about how and when they can finally get together to get ready for the season.

“For me, I’ll probably take it upon myself to reach out to guys to see and just get a gauge on how guys feel about that and if that’s something that is doable with everything that’s going on in the world right now,” he said.

McLeod has spent the last four seasons with the Eagles, but only time will tell if his fifth season in Philadelphia will start on time.
