Dr. Marissa T. Cohen, a relationship researcher with Hily, said some singles are being pushed into the deep end of dating while quarantining.
“A lot of people who were resisting online dating that are now using online dating sites and apps because of stay at home orders, that’s the only way to connect,” Cohen said.
She said online apps are also adding a little something special to their dating formulas to imitate what dating in the real world is like — a video feature.
And, Cohen said, studies show with COVID-19 and dating apps, people are putting more emphasis on getting to know one another, rather than being physical right away.
“Anecdotally, people are having more intimate conversations and what’s going to be interesting to see in the future, is once people meet up, are these relationships going to be stronger?” she added.
