PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Many Major League Baseball teams, including the Phillies, have been filling their empty ballparks with cardboard cutouts of fans, media personalities, baseball legends, pets, and mascots. They’ve become a hit, too, and the Phillies, in particular, have done a great job filling the lower level to near capacity.

Since fans will not be allowed at Lincoln Financial Field for at least the start of the season due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Eagles are following suit with their own cardboard cutouts.

If spectators are eventually permitted in, it’s very unlikely the stadium will be allowed to be completely filled with people, as to keep with social distancing guidelines.

So, the team is offering fans the chance to buy a cutout, starting Thursday at 8 a.m. They go for $100 on a first-come, first-served basis.

All net proceeds will go toward the Eagles Autism Foundation, which raises money for autism research and care. If you plan on taking part in the Eagles Autism Challenge in 2021, your registration fee will be waived if you purchase a cutout.

The cutouts will first fill seats in the lower end zones, then expand to the rest of the lower bowl for however long the Linc is off-limits to spectators.
