PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio)More places are opening up again across the Philadelphia region.

From the reopened Barnes Foundation and Sesame Place to local flea markets and drive-in movie theaters, there are a lot of activities to choose from this weekend — when was the last time you heard that?

Just be prepared: Bring a water bottle, sunscreen and a hat with you, as the temperatures continue to dwell at a steamy 90-plus degrees.

Many attractions are finally open again this weekend, like the Barnes Foundation, Woodmere Art Museum, and Sesame Place. Be sure to check each individual website for new visiting guidelines, and purchase tickets ahead of time.

OUTDOOR EVENTS

As you venture out and about, be smart about this weekend’s heat wave. Bring your water bottle with you to Saturday's Thunderbird Salvage Flea Market, or the Parking Lot Social’s pick of evening events, which are enjoyed from the comfort of your car.

At the drive-in, check out the Mid Atlantic Event Group’s concerts from your car, or their sweet lineup of movie classics. “Jurassic Park” is showing this weekend in Levittown.

Take a walk through the flora at Johnson’s Corner Farm’s first Sunflower Stroll of the season. It’ll be open for the next few weeks. Advance registration is required. Or, partake in the Philly River Stroll: A series of new eateries and beer gardens along the Delaware River, each with something special to offer.

With Philadelphia parks experiencing record usage in recent months, the Fairmount Park Conservancy is encouraging park-goers to safely explore the lesser-known gems of East and West Fairmount Park this summer and fall. Find more trails, historic landmarks, and natural areas via their guide.

SPORTS

It’s home opening weekend! Watch the Phillies take on the Marlins Friday night. The new normal is settling in for the Phillies and the rest of the baseball world. Manager Joe Girardi knows his team is ready to play in front of empty stadiums with artificial crowd noise. Although he acknowledges that no noise will ever replace what the Philadelphia fans bring, Girardi has explained this artificial noise is important, so the other team doesn’t hear coaching and pick up on strategy.

Tune into the game at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, as Aaron Nola throws the first pitch of the season.
