One of the first babies born in the area in 2019 — and the first baby of the year born at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, New Jersey — was a baby affectionately nicknamed Tank by his parents.
"His real name is Dalton, and he is a beautiful baby boy, weighing in at 9 pounds, 12 ounces, and he's over 21 inches long," said Pam Gallus, assistant vice president of maternal child health at Virtua.
She said this New Year's baby is already showing a personality and preferences.
"He's a big Eagles fan. When I went up to meet him, he was already in his Eagles attire with his football outfit and his Eagles hat on," she said.
Over in Camden County, the first baby of the year at Virtual Voorhees Hospital was baby Joe, who made his arrival at 4:24 New Year's morning, weighing in at 6 pounds, 10 ounces.
Gallus added she loves working on Jan. 1.
"Personally, I always look forward to the first baby of the year. I come in every year to greet the new baby and their parents and welcome them to the world," she said.
