The Democratic National Convention that was scheduled as an in-person event in Milwaukee this month will now take place mostly online, reports ABC News.
There probably won’t be a balloon drop, but the Democratic National Committee has prime-time activities and speeches planned every evening of the convention, featuring party superstars like former First Lady Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Senator Bernie Sanders will appear the same night as Republican former Ohio Governor John Kasich. Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth also has a featured spot.
Illinois Democrats will have their own virtual programming planned, taking place each night before the national festivities. Monday will be “Lifting up the American Worker”; Tuesday, Illinois Female Leaders and Women’s Rights; Wednesday, Economic and Racial Justice; Thursday, the night of Joe Biden’s Acceptance Speech, will be the Illinois Delegation that will feature a Call to Action, which is what the entire week will be.
And just so Illinois delegates don’t miss out on every aspect of an in-person convention, each will receive a kit of commemorative items before the festivities start.
