The Joker is setting the record straight on that rodent rumor.
It’s been five years since Jared Leto and Margot Robbie appeared in “Suicide Squad” and reports swirled about a bizarre interaction between the two stars.
Back in 2016, there were rumors Leto gifted Robbie a dead rat in order to establish chemistry between their villainous characters of the Joker and Harley Quinn.
Now in a new interview, the Oscar winner, who currently stars in the thriller “The Little Things,” is finally coming clean about what actually went down.
“It’s also interesting how this stuff all takes on a life of its own,” Leto told GQ. “I never gave Margot Robbie a dead rat. That’s not true.”
So there you have it. Turns out, Leto gifted Robbie something much, much sweeter.
“I actually gave her—I found this place in Toronto that had great vegan cinnamon buns, and that was a very common thing,” he added.
Rat or no rat, Leto will reprise the role of the Joker for the upcoming director’s cut of “Justice League.”
Zack Snyder, who is releasing his version of the 2017 film, shared a first look of Leto as the psychopath in the movie, ahead of the release of the official trailer on February 14th.
The inclusion of Leto also adds speculation as to how big a role he will have in the film as the Joker didn’t appear in the theatrical version.
In addition to Leto, “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” will also feature the return of Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Ezra Miller as the Flash.
“Zack Snyder’s Justice League” will start streaming on HBO Max on March 18.
