Former President Donald Trump resigned from the Screen Actors Guild — American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, a labor union representing approximately 160,000 people, in a letter filled with exclamation points Thursday.
Trump wrote that SAG-AFTRA has done nothing for him, and he doesn't want to be affiliated with the union any longer.
"I write to you today regarding the so-called Disciplinary Committee hearing aimed at revoking my union membership. Who cares!" Trump wrote to union president Gabrielle Carteris.
"While I’m not familiar with your work, I’m very proud of my work on movies such as Home Alone 2, Zoolander and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps; and television shows including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Saturday Night Live, and of course, one of the most successful shows in television history, The Apprentice – to name just a few!"
He went on to write, "You have done nothing for me."
The union was already discussing expelling him after the Jan. 6 riots and insurrection at the U.S. Capitol that left five people dead and resulted in Trump's second impeachment.
SAG-AFTRA Thursday released the following statement:
“Thank you.”
Fox News was first to report it.
