PITTSBURGH (KDKA Newsradio) — Comedian and former "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno was badly injured in Southwestern Pennsylvania after he fell down a hill.
In an exclusive interview with "Inside Edition," Leno said he was staying at the Hampton Inn in Greensburg before a show at the Palace Theater on Friday, Nov. 15.
Hours before the show, Leno left the hotel to go to a local restaurant. Instead of walking the long distance to the road, Leno decided to take a shortcut down a hill.
“I said, well, the hill doesn’t look that steep,” Leno told "Inside Edition" before an event in California this week.
Among other injuries, he sustained dark bruises to the left side of his face, his eye is swollen shut, and he broke a wrist.
Known for his work ethic, Leno performed at the Palace Theater just hours after the severe accident.
“It will be fine. I’m not worried about it,” Leno said of his recovery while wearing an eye patch.
Just two years ago, Leno was seriously burned by a fire in his garage, where he collects classic and custom cars.
