PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — While it is anyone's guess if Ben Simmons will be on the Sixers roster next season, it is now official that he will not be representing Australia at the Tokyo Olympics.

This has been expected since shortly after the 76ers' season came to a disappointing end against the Atlanta Hawks in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. Simmons struggled so much through that series that some fans want the franchise to trade him, just five season out of college and four into the pros.

Simmons told Australia head coach Brian Goorjian that he needs this time to focus on his skills, according to a Basketball Australia report.

It's no secret Simmons needs to work on being more aggressive offensively, attempting shots in game and making his free throws.

Pending Sixers unrestricted free agent Danny Green shared his thoughts on what he saw from Simmons this season during the latest episode of his podcast, "Inside the Green Room."

Simmons's future with the Sixers will be a story throughout the summer. Keep it locked to KYW Newsradio 103.9 FM and KYWNewsradio.com for the latest.
