COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Division III Ursinus College in Collegeville has a new head women's basketball coach. Bobbi Morgan is taking over the program.
Morgan spent 13 years at another Centennial Conference program, Haverford College, before stepping down earlier this year to take a position at the Agnes Irwin School in Bryn Mawr. She talked about how her going to Collegeville came together.
"I was sitting on the beach on Labor Day weekend and I got a phone call from [assistant director of athletics/head men's basketball coach] Kevin Small from Ursinus," she recalled.
"They had a very abrupt change in their [coaching situation] and asking me if I would like to coach at Ursinus. I said, 'No, I have a job.' And then a couple conversations later, it started to make sense to me. My own daughter is a senior on the lacrosse team there and she's loved it. So that ultimately was a big part in me making that decision to say yes."
Morgan led Haverford to the NCAA Tournament four times during her run there as head coach. At Ursinus, she will replace Margaret White, who left after six seasons to take over as head coach at Marymount University.
