PHILADELPHIA (WIP Sportsradio) — Carson Wentz will undergo a foot surgery that could keep him sidelined for three months, according to The Athletic's Stephen Holder.
Holder reports that Wentz had a foot injury that could date back as far as high school. Over time, the bone came loose and caused pain, forcing surgery now, which was apparently a clear-cut decision.
Wentz is expected to be out for five to 12 weeks.
This affects the Eagles in a big way. Philadelphia's conditional second-round pick in 2022 that they received from Indianapolis in the Wentz trade could improve to a first-rounder if Wentz plays at least 75% of Indy’s offensive snaps this season — or, if he plays at least 70% and the Colts make the playoffs.
Obviously, news of Wentz missing up to three months of time — which could be around Week 9 of the season — makes that first-round pick unlikely for the Eagles.
