PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Joe Moore has been the head softball coach at Clayton High School in Gloucester County for about a decade.

On his watch, the Clippers have turned into a powerhouse, winning back-to-back NJSIAA Group 1 state titles in 2021 and 2022, despite coming from one of the smallest public high schools in New Jersey.

“These girls are super-competitive. They hate to lose more than they love to win,” said Moore.

“They just go out there and they just play. They practice hard. We go six days a week there, every practice. I just think that they're just such competitors. You really can't teach that.”

Moore talks about what it was like to win those state championships, the pride the team’s success has brought to Clayton, and much more in the new episode of the podcast, “1-on-1 with Matt Leon.”
