After months and months of speculation, Commanders owner Dan Snyder has reportedly sold the team to the new ownership group led by 76ers co-owner Josh Harris.

According to Sportico, the sale is for $6 billion, satisfying Snyder’s reported asking price and making it the highest price ever paid for a sports team.

The group led by Harris includes NBA legend Magic Johnson and billionaire Mitchell Rales.

The reported sale ends Snyder’s tenure as owner, which began when he bought the team in 1999. Since then, reports and accusations of toxic workplace culture and sexual harassment within the organization, along with widespread failure on the field, drove Snyder out of ownership.

The sale will need to be approved by the other NFL owners, though there isn’t expected to be pushback on Harris taking the helm.
According to the Associated Press, once the deal is approved, Harris would owns stakes in teams in three of the four major North American pro sports leagues.

Harris and David Blitzer have owned the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers since 2011 and the NHL’s New Jersey Devils since 2013.

A contract is expected to be done in the coming days.
