PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Heading into the 2021 Eagles season, many pondered who would start on the other outside cornerback position along with Darius Slay. That question may have finally been answered.

On Sunday, the Eagles announced they agreed to a one-year contract with 28-year-old Steven Nelson, who has 68 starts in 82 NFL games, amassing six seasons, the last two in Pittsburgh.

New head coach Nick Sirianni has reiterated time and time again that one of his core values will be competition, so it's not as though Nelson has a starting spot locked up, but you can consider him the early favorite over Avonte Maddox.

Nelson has seven career interceptions, all coming in the last three seasons. He also has 52 career pass deflections.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Nelson's deal is worth more than $4 million.

It's safe to say Slay is looking forward to playing with Nelson, and vice versa.
