PHILADELPHIA (94WIP Sportsradio) — Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham gave a very positive update on his recovery from the torn Achilles tendon that ended his 2022 season.
“Right now, I am doing everything,” Graham said in the SportsRadio 94WIP studios on Wednesday. “I am in the mix at OTAs, offseason program. No restrictions, nothing like that. Just working out, getting my lungs right, making sure I am in shape for when training camp comes. ... No restrictions. If we were to play this week, I would play.”
Graham, 34, suffered a torn Achilles tendon on Sept. 19, 2021, meaning he is close to eight full months since the injury.
Getting Graham back at full strength would be a huge boost to an Eagles defensive line that missed him badly last season. He was easily the best defensive end on the Eagles’ roster last season, both against the run and as a pass rusher, and without him, the line suffered. The Eagles went from third in the NFL in sacks in 2020 to 31st in 2021.
Graham being out wasn’t the only reason, but his absence was certainly a factor.
If Graham can be the same player he was before the injury, the Eagles’ defensive line should be much better. Not only will they be getting Graham back, but they added Haason Reddick in free agency and drafted Jordan Davis, three huge additions who, more or less, didn’t play last year.
Of course, recovering from an Achilles injury is not easy, especially at 34 years old. Getting a healthy Graham back, however, should be a huge boost to the Eagles' pass rush.
