PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Sixers head coach Doc Rivers was hoping that his All-Stars would not have to quarantine through Thursday after they were in contact with someone who tested positive for the coronavirus — reportedly their barber.
That wish won't come true.
Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, who were kept out of the All-Star Game last weekend, are in seven-day quarantines. They will also miss the start of the second half of the Sixers season Thursday night at the Chicago Bulls. Simmons will also miss Friday's game at the Washington Wizards.
If the pair continue to test negative, Embiid will be able to return to team activities after registering a negative lab-based PCR test Friday, and the same for Simmons, on Saturday.
The 76ers are 1-5 without Embiid and 2-3 without Simmons.
After the next two road games, the Sixers are at home on Sunday to play San Antonio. It will be the first time they get to host fans this season.
