PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — For the third time in the past week, a fan incident has marred the NBA Playoffs. For the second time, it involves a fan at a Philadelphia 76ers playoff game.
A fan at game four of the Sixers-Washington Wizards series attempted to go onto the court at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
The incident happened in the game's third quarter. Security tackled him as he entered the court, and immediately took him out of the arena bowl.
Later, the Wizards' parent company released a statement saying the fan will be banned from future events at Capital One Arena, and the team is pursuing charges with Washington, D.C. police.
Last week, a fan at the Wells Fargo Center threw popcorn onto the Wizards' Russell Westbrook after game two of the same series. That fan has been banned from any future event at the Center.
A fan in Boston has also been banned from future Celtics games after throwing a water bottle at Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets.
