PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The much-anticipated FIFA World Cup is still a year away, but soccer fanatics can get a taste of the action this summer at Lincoln Financial Field.

Philly is one of 11 cities that will host some of the best players in the world for the FIFA Club World Cup.

The first match kicks off June 16 at 9 p.m. Five more matches will play out through June 26, with knockout rounds on June 28 and July 4.

"These are 32 of the best clubs from around the world," said Manolo Zubiria, chief tournament officer for FIFA. "All six continents are represented. We have more than 80 nationalities represented by the players in these clubs, and for the first time ever, they will be playing for a major, major tournament and major trophy to be crowned the best in the world."

Zubiria hopes this leaves fans with “such a good taste in their mouth that they're just gonna want more.”
