For Eagles fans, nothing is more important than beating Dallas

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — For Eagles fans, there is nothing like a win over the Cowboys, and as the Birds get set to face Dallas on Sunday night, the players and coaches are well aware of what this game means to the Delaware Valley.

Doug Pederson was a player for the Eagles in 1999 and it did not take long for the current head coach to understand what beating the Cowboys meant to the fan base.

"I remember back in '99 when I played here, and the fans were always like there's two games every year that you've really got to win, right? And it's the two Dallas games," he said.

Fifth-year defensive back Jalen Mills also learned quickly about the importance of beating the Cowboys twice a year.

"My first day in Philly, I was out eating a cheesesteak, and I remember I had a fan tell me my rookie year, 'I don't care if you lose every game. As long as you beat Dallas twice a year, my year is made,'" he recalled.

Darius Slay came to the Eagles in a trade during the off-season and Slay already knows the importance of the rivalry.

"They don't really like nothing about the Cowboys here. Nothing," he observed. "That's just funny. I'm loving it."

The Eagles and Cowboys will play again in Dallas late in December.
