LOWER GWYNEDD TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A local women's college basketball coach recently picked up a milestone victory.

Keith Mondillo has been the head coach at Division III Gwynedd Mercy University since 1995. Last weekend, he picked up his 500th career win as a head coach when the Griffins beat Immaculata on the road in overtime, 84-83.

“It's really humbling how many former players, coaches, friends, family, administration, have reached out and congratulated me,” said Mondillo.

“It's just humbling and thinking the impact that you've made on so many people's lives. You just never really think about it when you're doing your job day to day.”

Mondillo said his focus on winning has changed throughout his career.

“I was consumed about just winning games as a young coach, and I still am. We watched film yesterday. We prepped for our game, you know, we do everything that every normal coach does in their program,” he said.

“But absolutely, the wins almost become secondary to relationships and seeing your athletes grow.”

Still, Mondillo definitely knows how to win. His resume, in addition to the 500 wins, includes seven conference titles and nine appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
