PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- The Eagles' quarterback situation, among many other things, remains uncertain for the 2021 season.

Will they return to Carson Wentz, who the team benched in the second half of Week 13? Or will rookie Jalen Hurts remain in the starters role he's held the past three games?

Sunday night against the Washington Football team will be Hurts' final chance before the 2020 campaign ends to showcase himself and put something on game tape. A reporter asked Hurts what is left for him to prove this season.

Hurts responded with a smile, "Go out there and win."

The rookie is remaining calm, cool and collected heading into the finale. Last Sunday against the Cowboys was the first time he really started to display first-year tendencies and mistakes. Hurts said he remains his own biggest critic and explained the standard he holds himself to.

"I think the mentality for what we're trying to do is we just want to end it off on a high note. I'm not sure what anybody else has said, but that's where my head is," Hurts said.

One trend in Hurts' three starts is the offensive production dipping from the first half to the second half. That could be a sign that opponents are picking up the change and making adjustments.

"That's why I harp on it being an opportunity for us to always learn from it. It means nothing if you don't learn from it, and I pride myself on learning from any experience, whether it be good or bad," he said.

Speaking of learning — Doug Pederson acknowledged that Hurts has been leaving the pocket a bit too early sometimes instead of surveying the field and letting the play develop a little bit more.

"Young players sometimes do that, and this is where we can coach him up and show him exactly where his eyes need to be — for instance, how he can time the drop up with the route combination or what he's seeing defensively," Pederson said. "Then just trust the protection overall, whether it's a pressure look or not."

Hurts can end the 2020 season on a high note by improving from the second half in the Eagles 37-17 loss to Dallas, and continuing to display the impressive qualities he has shown in moments of success. One more good game from Hurts will add even more intrigue to the looming quarterback question that hovers over the Philadelphia Eagles organization.

"You could say that everybody will be eager to see where they will be going for the future, but honestly I can't say too much," running back Miles Sanders said. "That's way above my pay grade, and it's not going to be an easy decision for Doug at all. And I'm pretty sure it wasn't an easy decision when he made the switch (from Wentz) three games ago."

And or course — whether it will be Pederson staying as head coach to make that decision for the 2021 season remains to be seen as well. His future is just as uncertain heading into the finale against Washington.
