PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It's no secret that this Eagles season has been a mess.
On Wednesday, center Jason Kelce was very candid about everything that has gone wrong.
"The offense has been absolutely terrible the last four weeks, in particular," he said. "We owe it to the rest of the team here, we owe it to the Eagles to try, and we owe it to the fan base, certainly, to figure something out."
Although Kelce is disheartened that Carson Wentz was removed from the starting lineup, he realizes something needed to change.
"Can't keep doing the same thing and expecting to get better. We just haven't been able to do it," he added.
But he agreed with head coach Doug Pederson's sentiment: It's not all on Wentz. Everyone needs to be held accountable.
"Whenever you're this bad, it's never just one person. It's never just one position group and it's never just players, coaches, front office. It's everybody," said Kelce. "Offensive line, running backs, receivers, coaches — you aren't this bad unless everyone shares blame in this whole thing."
Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox echoed Kelce.
"(Wentz is) my best friend," said Cox. "He's my guy. I've always had his back since day one. Jalen — he's my teammate also, so you have to support whoever's in there.
"There's not gonna be no locker room divide (about who should be starting). We don't make decisions like that. We're a team."
As far as Jalen Hurts, Kelce is looking forward to snapping the ball to him.
"He's just got a lot of good intangibles to work with, so I'm excited to go out there and to see what that feels like on a game day."
The Eagles are 3-8-1, but Kelce said they're still going to move forward and keep trying.
"Whether it's too late or not, you still keep working, you still keep fighting and you still keep trying to grind out and figure out what's going on. And you still keep trying to freaking win."
