"Lane Johnson is just a beast," sums it up best.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports that the All-Pro Eagles offensive lineman needs surgery for a groin injury, but will put it off until after the playoffs and play through the pain.

"My understanding is that Lane Johnson does need surgery on his torn adductor, but is putting it off until after the playoffs," Rapoport said on Wednesday. "This is kind of wild."

"Lane Johnson is just built different. He consulted with a lot of experts, found out he cannot injure his adductor more if he plays through it. So he is planning to do this. I do not know another lineman who has tired to do this. I believe Sidney Crosby—who is not a football player, but does play a little hockey—he did this. But Lane Johnson is just a beast."

Johnson, 32, is one of the game's best offensive tackles and has played a record 928 consecutive plays without allowing a sack. He was recently named to his fourth Pro Bowl.

Johnson will not play in the team's final two regular season games. The Eagles can clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC by winning one of those two games, which would give Johnson and the team an extra week of rest with a first-round bye.
