PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio, 94WIP SportsRadio) — Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni is getting crushed by the national media. Monday was Sirianni's day-after video conference. The Eagles had an ugly 20-16 win over the Browns to celebrate — they are now 3-2 in the season — but it seemed that a lot of the focus was on Sirianni's screaming back-and-forth with some fans right after the game.
"He said that — listen, he admits that he's emotional, but he said that he has a lot of energy, but he felt that his energy wasn't properly directed at the end of the game," said Voice of the Eagles Merrill Reese. "And he said he's got to improve in that aspect, and he understands what went on. And he basically said he loves the fans, but he's got to stay away from any of that stuff."
Former NFL player Damien Woody, radio and TV host Mike Greenberg, and ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky all criticized the head coach on Monday following his post-game antics after .
"This dude is a straight clown, bro," Woody said on ESPN's Get Up. "I just don't have any respect for what this man is doing."
"If you're not ready to be booed, then I'm telling you right now don't be the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles," Greenberg said. "If you're team doesn't play well, then you're going to get booed sometimes. ... Picking a fight with your own fans is the absolute worst thing a coach can do."
As for Orlovsk, he said, "I always knew that they were going to miss Jason Kelce on the field. [Nick Sirianni] misses Jason Kelce and his leadership. ... He's acting to the Eagles' fans that I'm better than you and you are beneath me."
He laid it out simply: "I'm not from there. My wife is from there. In that city, that doesn't fly."
