'Tough, gritty style': What to expect from new Haverford women's basketball coach Carideo

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Division III Haverford College has a new head women’s basketball coach.

Stephanie Carideo is taking over the program. She comes to Haverford from the University of Pennsylvania where she was serving as an assistant. Haverford didn’t play this past season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Carideo talked about what fans can expect when her squad takes the floor this season.

“I think that we’ll play a very tough, gritty style of basketball. We’ll play fast-paced," Carideo said.

"I’m going to allow my girls to make plays within what their ability is. I’m not going to try to hold them back and run a ton of sets. There’s a time and place for that, but I think it’s going to be very high energy, intensity.”

Carideo replaces Bobbi Morgan, who was just recently named the new head coach of the women's team at Ursinus College.

This will be Carideo’s second college head coaching job. She took PSU-Abington to the Division III NCAA Tournament back in 2015.
