PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Andrew McCutchen’s mic’d up home run turned out to be a great Mother’s Day gift.

The Phillies lost another road series over the weekend in Atlanta and did not improve their record against National League East teams through 35 total games of their 2021 season.

But there was one superb Phillies highlight from Sunday’s 6-1 loss to the Braves. Left fielder Andrew McCutchen was mic’d up to ESPN’s national telecast of Sunday Night Baseball, during which he hit a leadoff home run off the very first pitch of the game from Atlanta starter Huascar Ynoa.

“Just like that! Just like that, baby! Like I said, I’m the best!” he said while rounding the bases.

Later on, McCutchen gave cheerful shoutouts to his mother and wife.

“Hey family,” McCutchen said. “Hey family, Momma, babe. Happy Mother’s Day, babe. I love you. That home run was for you.”
