PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It's not the playbook for the Eagles getting a win every weekend, but one that can help you be victorious watching the Birds on game day. And, it was written by one of the all-time passionate, loyal and enthusiastic fans: Shirley A. Dash, also known as “EagleShirley.”

Dash is the author of “Football 101 Do's and Don'ts For The Ladies: Things You Should Know Before, During and After The Game.” It’s not about the X’s and O’s of football, but rather how to go about your game day experience, from how to host or be a guest.

Dash has been teaching the do’s and don’ts of watching games at her church, Beloved St. John Evangelistic in North Philadelphia, biannually for several years. When the classes first started, both men and women were allowed.

Then, Dash noticed some men were disrespectful to women who were just learning about being a football fan for the first time. It was clear this wasn’t the safe space it needed to be. That’s when the classes became women-only, to create an inclusive environment where no question is a bad one.

The book is an extension of the class. It’s efficient, very easy to carry, witty and includes multiple pages where a reader can take notes.

It’s a project near and dear to Dash, who loves Philadelphia, enjoys sports and is carrying on the message of her late mother, Charlotte, who encouraged Dash to be heard. This book is a tribute to Charlotte and Dash’s brother, Sherman, who taught Shirley about football.

You can get a copy of the book on Amazon.
