PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Early Friday morning during Daryl Morey’s post-draft press conference, the Sixers president of basketball operations left fans and commentators in the lurch regarding the status of Joel Embiid’s playoffs injury.

It’s been more than a month since the 76ers’ disappointing second-round exit from the playoffs, which Embiid played through with a small lateral meniscus tear. There still has not been any update on Embiid — specifically, whether or not he had surgery to repair the tear.

“Joel has been in the gym,” Morey said. “He was in the gym today working on his game. He has a plan with our medical staff and we feel good about it, and we are not concerned about him medically at all.”

When asked specifically if that means that Embiid won’t have meniscus surgery, Morey evaded any details.

“Again, he has a plan and he looks great,” he replied. “I’m intentionally not answering your specific question.”

For now, Embiid’s progress with his meniscus tear will continue to remain unknown.
