PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Saint Joseph's University women's basketball team will be on the road this weekend, looking to snap a four-game losing streak with matches on Friday at Fordham and Sunday at Davidson.

On multiple occasions this season, the Hawks have had to shut things down due to COVID-19 concerns, so the schedule has been a constant work in progress. As of mid-February, the Hawks have only played 10 games.

"It's been quite a challenge," said head coach Cindy Griffin, "because the uncertainty of what's going to happen. You say day-to-day, but even hour-by-hour, things could change. That in itself is a challenge, but I have to tell you, we kind of expect it at this point.

"So when we're not interrupted, we celebrate those times because we have the opportunity to practice and to play and continue on to what we want our season to look like."

The Hawks have split their 10 games so far, going 5-5 (3-5 in the Atlantic 10). This current four-game losing streak followed a 5-1 start to the season.

"We started out scoring a lot of points," Griffin said. "We got a lot of production from the three-point line. We're shooting it pretty well from the three-point line right now. It's kind of dipped in the last couple games, but we want to get back to shooting in the high 30s and continue to shoot in the mid-40s for the twos, for overall. That's what we saw in our games, that we have been successful in and the games that we haven't, those numbers have dipped significantly, along with our defensive output."

The Hawks have seven players averaging at least five points per game. Grad student guard Alayna Gribble is leading the way, pouring in 11 points per night.

Friday's game with Fordham and Sunday's game at Davidson are both slated to start at noon.
