PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It has been a magical season for Thomas Jefferson University’s women’s soccer team and on Sunday, the Rams will look to keep the campaign going as they visit Franklin Pierce University in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
The Rams are 19-1-2 and the champions of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. This will be their first-ever appearance in the Regional Finals.
The team has outscored their opponents 54-9 on the season with junior forward Nikki Dedes leading the squad with 11 goals.
Head coach Kyle Schumann says the team has been very consistent this season.
“And anything that they kind of face, they face it in the same way and they're very steady in how they respond to everything, and just very consistent in their decisions and actions,” he said. “And it's just a really good group as far as that goes.”
Franklin Pierce is 18-3-1 heading into Sunday’s game, which starts at 1 p.m. The winner advances to the national quarterfinals.
