PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Philadelphia Eagles are going to the Super Bowl, and fans will most likely bring their extreme pole-climbing craze with them to Phoenix.

Grace Del Pizzo gets it. As a native of Delaware County, the sophomore at Arizona State University decided to share some Philly “culture” with the city that will soon be bombarded with Birds fans.

In a video that has since gone viral, Del Pizzo shows viewers around town and (jokingly) breaks down the different types of poles people can climb with Philly pride.

Del Pizzo, a sports journalism student at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication in Phoenix, said Super Bowl LVII was one of the reasons she chose to attend ASU.

“We have the Super Bowl this year, the Waste Management [Phoenix PGA golf] Open every year, and we have the Final Four for March Madness next year. So just all the events that are happening here in the next couple of years were really a big factor for me choosing to go here rather than somewhere else,” she said.

Of course, she couldn’t have predicted that her hometown team would be participating in Super Bowl LVII. She had a hunch, though, when Howie Roseman fleeced the Tennessee Titans for wide receiver A.J. Brown on draft night, and again when the Eagles squeaked by the Arizona Cardinals in October.

“It must have been 60% Eagles fans to 40% Cardinals fans,” she said of that game, “and all the Eagles fans afterward were walking around yelling, ‘We’ll see you back here in February.’ So we knew.”

Del Pizzo isn’t going to the big game, but she’ll have an opportunity to be at Radio Row with a California radio station — fitting, as she is also a 2019 alum of KYW Newsradio’s Newstudies program.

For the record, Del Pizzo does not condone pole-climbing. Her father mentioned the idea to her after local police said they didn’t plan on greasing them, like the Philadelphia Police Department does.

From there, she scouted the area with a friend, and together they filmed the “tour.”

“I never expected it to get that much attention,” she added.

We’ll see if any Eagles fans take her “advice.”
