PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One of Villanova University's top players will take his talents to the NBA.
After an impressive sophomore season at Villanova, forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl decided the time was right to sign with an agent and enter the NBA Draft.
"I feel like coming back for my second year to mature as a player, a person in all aspects, put me in the best position for this year," he said.
Robinson-Earl led the Wildcats in scoring and rebounding and was one of the Wildcats' top players in their three NCAA Tournament games.
"I think I'm ready for this, and I think it's going top be a great step in the right direction for my career, and I'm really excited," he expressed.
Wildcats coach Jay Wright supported Robinson-Earl's decision, saying he knew it was time for Robinson-Earl to turn pro.
"He has been a joy to coach, and he has been a joy to go through any of these processes with last spring," said Wright. He added he expects the standout to continue to improve as he begins his pro career.
"He's got incredible potential," praised the coach. "This isn't close to how good he can be."
Robinson-Earl said he knew after last year he needed at least one more season at Villanova. He added the chance to play in the NCAA Tournament will help him as he moves on to the NBA.
"You definitely feel that aspect of how big the stage of the game is," he said, "and I think that definitely will help for the long run."
