PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Division II West Chester University has named Duke Greco as its new football coach.

Greco graduated from Delaware Valley University in 2003 and spent 11 seasons as an assistant coach. He spent the last 10 years as the head coach at his alma mater, and on his watch, the Aggies were an elite Division III program, going 91-15 and making six appearances in the NCAA playoffs — even advancing to the quarterfinals three times.

He said the decision to leave was tough.

“I’ve been [at DelVal] since I was 18 as a student and then as a coach for 20 years. So I spent 25 years of my life there and made the same drive up to Doylestown every day,” he said. “It’s a great place. … I know for sure I’m gonna miss them.”

Greco replaces the legendary Bill Zwaan, who retired in 2023 as the winningest coach in Golden Rams history. In 21 seasons, they went 163-76 and made 10 appearances in the Division II playoffs.

“I’m excited,” Greco said. “We’ll be hard-working, we’ll be tough and we’ll have fun doing it.”

Greco said he’s extremely grateful for the opportunity to join WCU Athletics.

“When this opportunity became available, I felt like I couldn’t pass it up. It’s a special place — great academics, great location, beautiful town, and athletic excellence across the board,” he added. “I just look forward to serving the university, alumni and the community to the best of my ability. I’m ready to go.”
