PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia native who is the police chief of Wichita, Kansas, about three hours southwest of Kansas City, is proclaiming his love of the Super Bowl-bound Eagles with a friendly challenge for his county sheriff.
Chief Joseph Sullivan, a former Philadelphia deputy police commissioner and 30-year veteran of the force, issued the following challenge to Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter, a Kansas City Chiefs fan, on Friday:
"When the Philadelphia Eagles become victorious in the 57th Super Bowl and become, once again, Super Bowl champions, I expect you to stand on the corner of Central and Main with a sign that says 'Fly Eagles Fly,' admitting the Philadelphia Eagles are world champions."
On Monday, Easter accepted the challenge with, as he put it, confidence that the Eagles will not be victorious.
"I look forward to Chief Sullivan waving a sign that says 'Chiefs Kingdom' on the corner of Central and Main," Easter retorted.
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney did not specify much about a separate bet he made with Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas on Tuesday, but he gave NBC10 an inkling about beer and ribs being part of the deal.
