PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man was killed and another was injured after a shooting and subsequent car crash near Temple University’s main campus early Sunday morning.
Police said two men in their 30s were shot — one fatally — around 3 a.m.
Video circulating on social media shows Philadelphia police officers rushing to a silver Subaru that had smashed into a tree at Eighth Street, just south of Cecil B. Moore Avenue — a few blocks from Temple University.
The cops are seen breaking the driver’s side window, opening the door, and pulling a man from the driver’s seat into the back of their squad car, before driving off.
The man was identified as 30-year-old Rafi Colon White. Detectives said he was shot once in the torso and died at the hospital.
A 34-year-old man who was also in the car was shot in both of his legs. He is listed in critical condition.
Yellow caution tape stretched multiple blocks, and dozens of shell casings coated the streets.
No one is in custody. Officials are trying to determine a motive.
As in every homicide, there’s a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
