NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — One person is dead after a wrong-way crash in West Deptford Sunday night.

Around 5:45 p.m., police were notified of two intoxicated men at the PNS Gas and Food Mart on Hessian Avenue in Gloucester County. When officers arrived at the gas station, they saw a white car that matched the description associated with the intoxicated men drive off toward Hessian Road.

A West Deptford officer in a marked vehicle then activated their emergency lights in an attempt to stop the white car, but the driver, identified as Steve Hall, 28, of Waltham Cross, U.K., then traveled into the opposite lane and hit another car with two people inside — one in the driver's seat, another in the back passenger seat.

The driver of that car died. The passenger, who said Hall t-boned their vehicle, sustained a leg fracture.

The front-seat passenger in Hall’s car sustained a dislocated hip. Hall was also injured, but specifics were not released.

Hall is charged with one count of second-degree death by auto and two counts of fourth-degree assault by auto.

Gloucester County officials said there was another crash with multiple people critically injured on Route 76 in nearby Camden County Sunday night. These two crashes are not believed to be related.
