Teen killed, 2 children among injured after pair of Philadelphia shootings

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A teen is dead and three others, including two children, are injured after a pair of shootings that took place within 10 minutes and a mile of each other Thursday night.

A triple shooting happened near the corner of North 15th Street and West Lehigh Avenue around 7:45 p.m.

An 18-year-old was shot multiple times in the chest. He was taken to Temple University Hospital and died just before 8 p.m.

A 12-year-old girl was also shot in the chest and arm, while a 31-year-old man suffered a graze wound. They were both placed in stable condition at Temple University Hospital.

Another shooting happened near the corner of North 20th and West Norris streets just 10 minutes prior, around 7:35 p.m.

Someone shot a 15-year-old boy multiple times in his abdomen and legs. He was taken to Temple University Hospital and has been placed in critical condition.

There was no initial word on any arrests or weapons recovered from either scene.

So far in 2021, 410 people have been murdered in Philadelphia, and about 1,400 people have been shot.

In the first nine months of the year, 2021 has had more homicides at this point in the year than ever before in the city's history. More people have been killed so far this year than in any one full calendar year between 2007 and 2019.
