PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two people are in custody after a car chase in North Philadelphia that ended with a crash Friday night. It all started with a report of a stolen car with a baby inside.
According to our newsgathering partners at NBC10, a person called police around 10 p.m. claiming a car that had a 6-month-old baby inside was stolen near Fifth Street and Allegheny Avenue.
Police spotted the car — a silver Cadillac XTS — and were led on a brief chase before the driver hopped out of the car at Second and Tioga streets and ran off. Officers quickly caught up and took the driver into custody.
When officers searched the car, they said no baby was found. According to NBC10, police believe the baby was never inside the car.
The person who called police was also taken into custody and could face charges.
An investigation is underway.
