PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two people were badly hurt in the early hours Wednesday after separate hit-and-runs in the city.
It was a little after midnight in West Philadelphia when investigators say an unidentified person ran across 52nd Street — and was almost on the sidewalk — when a speeding car struck the person.
The victim has been hospitalized and is considered “extremely critical,” according to a preliminary police investigation.
A description of the car has not been released.
Then around 3 a.m. on Lehigh Avenue in the city’s Fairhill neighborhood, police say, a man was lying in the middle of the street when he was hit by a passing SUV.
The identity of the victim is unknown. Officials say he is in critical condition at the hospital.
Investigators have since located the driver and recovered the SUV wanted in connection to this incident.
Anyone with information that would be useful to the investigations is encouraged to call police.
