PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Even with signs of winter all around, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is thinking about spring with the release of new details about exhibit designs and programming at the 195th Philadelphia Flower Show: “United by Flowers.”
Seth Pearsoll, PHS creative director and vice president of the Flower Show, says the entrance garden at the show will incorporate water as an artistic medium.
“It’s got the largest water element that we ever created,” he said. “It’s full of shimmering, mirrored surfaces, with this idea of reflection in this particular garden, with this amazing floral cloud overhead. It will be chock full of beautiful plants — very, very colorful.”
There will be another section where educational exhibitors showcase displays celebrating Philly neighborhoods.
“We know this region is a rich tapestry of local neighborhoods, each with their own characteristics,” Pearsoll said.
“We recognize this, and we worked with our educational partners in the show to create exhibits inspired by the special characteristics of select neighborhoods — such as Roxborough, South Phildelphia’s Pennsport, the Italian Market. Even Doylestown and Trenton will have exhibits designed in their honor.”
There will be special programming throughout the show, too — like Fido Friday, when visitors can bring their dogs, and the Shimmer and Shine Dance Party. Look also for special tours, including guided-photography, early-morning and behind-the-blooms tours.
The Philadelphia Flower Show will run March 2-10 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The latest information on the 2024 Flower Show is online.
