PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Three people, including a 16-year-old, were arrested after a large car meet-up in Northeast Philadelphia Sunday night.

Police say an officer called for backup at the 500 block of Adams Avenue just before 8 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they said the cop was surrounded by about 200 people and 100 cars.

In an attempt to break up the crowd, a responding officer turned on his lights and sirens. The 16-year-old then blocked his car by standing in front of it and leaning on the hood.

More officers arrived and the teen got inside a gray Infiniti G35 with two people inside. They say they tried to drive away but couldn’t because of how congested the area was.

The Infiniti was stopped and the juvenile tried to run away but was apprehended. The car was then towed and those inside, identified as Alex Collins, 18, from Honey Brook, and James Campitelli, 19, from Douglasville, were arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy, failure to disperse, disorderly conduct, and related offenses.

Editor’s update, Aug. 20, 2024:
Collins completed an ARD program in August, which includes community service. The failure to disperse charge was withdrawn by the prosecution.

Editor’s update, Sept. 1, 2025:
Prosecutors withdrew the case against Campitelli. After repeated questions from KYW Newsradio, a spokesperson for the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office said it was withdrawn after Campitelli went through a diversion program.
