PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Three men are in custody after police said they traveled from New York City to Bensalem Township to steal thousands of dollars' worth of weight loss drugs from a pharmacy.

Police said it unfolded around 9 a.m. as a delivery driver dropped off medication at the Smart Choice Pharmacy on 1941 Street Road. Three people —  Joshua Dupree, 41, from Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, Jahnoi Dawkins, 21, from Albany, NY, and a 17-year-old from New York City — pushed the driver and stole two boxes of Mounjaro, Ozempic, and Trulicity, valued at $16,000.

The suspects then fled the scene in a gold-colored Toyota, nearly striking a nearby witness who was attempting to record the incident. The employee almost immediately called 911.

According to Bensalem Public Safety Director William McVey, the trio traveled from the Bronx and waited for two hours until the business opened. Pharmacy staff said they received suspicious calls and emails leading up to the incident regarding delivery times.

He said dispatchers helped officers catch up to the men and arrest them.

Dupree, Dawkins and the 17-year-old are facing several charges, including robbery and simple assault. The teen was remanded to Bucks County Youth Detention Center.

“It was premeditated and thought out, and they obviously traveled a great distance to go through with this theft of medication,” McVey said.
