
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Five people are in the hospital after two shootings two hours apart Wednesday night in West and Southwest Philadelphia.
The first shooting saw three people shot while they were sitting on the front steps of a home near 55th Street and Greenway Avenue in Kingsessing.
Philadelphia police said the shooting happened around 9:30 p.m., and that a 19-year-old man and woman are in stable condition at the hospital. A 20-year-old man was the third victim and authorities believe he was the intended target because they said the shooter chased him down and shot him several times.
The man remains in critical condition.
The second shooting saw two people shot in what police are calling a drive-by shooting that happened around 11:30 p.m. Authorities said it happened at 43rd Street and Pennsgrove Street, just off Belmont Avenue, in West Philadelphia.
A 28-year-old man was shot in the stomach and is in critical condition at the hospital, while a 54-year-old woman was shot in the shoulder and is stable.
Police have not made any arrests in connection with either shooting.
