
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — In honor of National Hospital Week from May 9 to 15, several Philadelphia cultural institutions are honoring hospital heroes with free admission on select days this month.
Participating museums include the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, Eastern State Penitentiary, The Franklin Institute, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Barnes Foundation.
“This is an opportunity to say to the hospital workers who have been putting their lives on the line every day for all of us, ‘thank you,’ ” said Valerie Gay, Barnes Foundation deputy director for audience engagement and chief experience. “We see you and we really do want you to be a part of our community.”
At the Barnes, one hospital worker and a guest can get free admission on Thursday, May 13, from noon to 7 p.m. The museum will be open exclusively to hospital workers that day. Reservations are required by calling 215-278-7200.
One hospital worker and a guest can roam Eastern State Penitentiary in Fairmount at no charge on Wednesday, May 12. Reservations are not required but workers must show a hospital ID.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Rodin Museum are offering free entry to a hospital worker plus four guests between Friday, May 14, and Monday, May 17. Walk-ups are allowed but based on availability. A hospital ID is also required.
Free admission to The Franklin Institute is available now through Sunday, May 16. Hospital workers can bring up to three guests, and a hospital ID is required at entry. Reservations must be made online.

The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts is honoring hospital heroes and their guests next week, from May 20 to 23. Reservations are required by emailing info@pafa.org.
