PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Delaware's 75th governor was sworn in on Tuesday afternoon for a very short term.
Following Gov. John Carney's resignation, at noon, his lieutenant governor, Bethany Hall-Long, was sworn in as governor to serve in his place for two weeks, from Jan. 7 to Jan. 21, until the next governor officially takes office.

Carney stepped down before the official end of his term so he can start in his new role as mayor of Wilmington, where he will take the oath of office Tuesday evening.
Hall-Long last year lost the governor's primary race to Democrat Matt Meyer, who went on to win in the general election. Meyer's term begins on Jan. 21.
