PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Eight juveniles have been arrested in Bensalem after police said they broke into a Starbucks and stole from cars in nearby neighborhoods.
Bensalem police said when they responded to a burglary in progress at the Starbucks along Lincoln Highway near the Turnpike interchange at 3:19 a.m. on Wednesday, they found the drive-thru window smashed and cash registers tampered with.
Police said they saw kids in the Walmart parking lot on Horizon Boulevard. They detained three, while some ran off. Upper Southampton police helped them catch the other five.
Police said the juveniles had items from the Starbucks, and further investigation found all eight were involved in that break-in, along with theft from cars in nearby neighborhoods.
All eight are from Philadelphia and charged in juvenile court with burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and related counts.
Bensalem police said the kids are suspected in other attempted thefts in and around the Neshaminy Square Shopping Center and surrounding neighborhoods. That investigation is ongoing; they’re asking homeowners and businesses to check surveillance video.
