PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Some merry news for The Philly Specials.
The Eagles charity album “A Philly Special Christmas Party” debuted with the largest sales week for a holiday release on vinyl in the modern era.
Billboard says it came in at No. 1 on the Independent Albums chart, and No. 2 on the Top Album Sales chart, beating Kendrick Lamar in the process and losing only to the “Wicked” movie soundtrack.
Proceeds from “A Philly Special Christmas Party” will help fund Operation Snowball, which aims to give every student in the city's public schools a gift this season.
Their previous albums — 2022’s “A Philly Special Christmas” and 2023’s “A Philly Special Christmas Special” — have raised more than $4 million for local charities.
